How can I join Hong Kong Mensa?

Hong Kong Mensa is a recognised chapter of Mensa International, the world-wide society for intelligent people. To qualify for membership, applicants, aged 14 and above, must score in the top 2% of the population on a standard Intelligence Quotient (IQ) test. There is no other basis for membership, whoever you are, whatever you do. Don't be deterred by the 2% figure, because if you think you are intelligent then you probably are - historically, a much larger percentage of people (30-50%) who take the test will pass it.

The 40-minute test is picture-based and does not require knowledge of any particular language. No preparation is needed for the test. There is no need to pre-register. Your Hong Kong ID card or passport is required, and please bring a pencil. The test fee is HK$100 (or $50 if you are under 21 on the test date). Should you succeed in joining Mensa, membership dues are HK$250 per annum ($125 if you are under 21 when fees become due). For those joining part-way through the year, the fee is reduced proportionately.

Mensans from around the world are very welcome to attend Hong Kong Mensa events while they are holidaying here. Details of forthcoming events can be found on this web site, and we can add your name to our guest e-mail or fax list temporarily. Please send us your contact details, and the dates during which you will be here.

Guests will be removed from our guest list after 90 days, so If you are living in Hong Kong, then please transfer your membership to Hong Kong Mensa. Contact the Chairman for a transfer form and further details. Membership of Hong Kong Mensa costs HK$250 per year for adults, and HK$125 per year if you are under 21.
